Its happening again….

March 4, 2011

Those crazy kids in South Glens Falls have to decided to dance again…. and thanks to a quote from Karen Bailey, “they are the dancers, they make the dreams.”

With almost two hours under our belt, the alumni are ready, the bleechers are full, and the dancers are (I think) having a little fun.

And a quick “great job” is in order to the dancers who did an incredible job flash mob dancing to “I Got a Feeling” and unveiling the new “Waka Waka (It’s Time For Marathon)”

We’ll be back in a few hours to update you again, but in the mean time, you can watch SHMD Live on www.shmd.org.

Guest Post by Howie

Wow the silent auctions just finished and we are officially now over $8,000 on the 50/50. This year has been an amazing year. We are all very proud of these amazing dancers. We are nearing the final stretch and there appears to be excitement building regarding the live auction. I am personally very interested in potentially outdoing Mr. Bill this year on the Bulldog neon light. I hope he brought his platinum card…lol.

Well I hope this year everyone who couldn’t make it have enjoyed the blogs, tweets, and now a great live webcast. FYI next year we hope to have multiple video cameras running wirelessless so that camera crews can be walking throughout the building while broadcasting live to the net.

All in all a great year!!!

Cheers,

Howie

The top 16 fundraisers!!!

March 6, 2010

All of the kids this year have worked so hard in raising as much money as possible.  We just named off the top 16 fundraisers.  These totals ranged from $600-$2,225.00.  The students that raised anywhere from $600-$1255 won a handmade afghan, while the rest of the students who raised anywhere from $1256-$2225 have won prize bags with various items!!! Now we just have to wait and see who our top 4 sellers are!!!

Rocking the Clock

March 6, 2010

We’re headed into the home stretch at this point, folks. The old gym is full of supportive community members, the dancers just walked their Garage Sale parade and the snack bar is booming.

We’re headed towards the dinenr break and what is sure to be one the greatest closing ceremonies of SHMD history.

So, get here early if you can, there’s still plenty of fun to be had!!!

Live from Jeff Stewart…

March 6, 2010

Well here we are again, the SHMD blog is going strong, i have a unique experience this year.i am still heading up the alumnin in my own special way, but this year I am in the position of a recipient. Papa Stewart passed this past year, and is of course only here in spirit. It is a true honor to have this years dance dedicated to his memory. the dancers are rocking the floor, and some of the costumes are killer. I want to personally thank everyone who has sent out well wishes for the dance. Love to all of you and hope to see you at the dance.

Marathon meets FAVA

March 6, 2010

This morning, from 6:30-8:30, volunteers from a local organization called FAVA will be riding the busses, waking you up and handing out freebies!

FAVA is actually the Friends and Alumni Volunteer Association, a group that has spawned from the Marathon Dance to continue Marathon-like works all year long. They’re a great bunch of crazy people who’d love to give you the chance to win one of their two movie night gift baskets. Everyone who rides the bus between now and 8:30 will receive a FREE raffle ticket for a chance to win one of those baskets!

In the meantime, dancers have been awoken, the snakc bar is open, and your morning djs are just warming up.

Lastly, kuddos to those 11 people who were up until 3am watching the live feed…you’re some real diehard SHMD lovers!!!!!

We are officially fighting the night. The dancers are working away at their Neon Power Hour, which will end soon and be followed by a game. This is always a good laugh and we’re excited that you’ll now be able to watch, LIVE, this never before seen part of the dance!

The next few hours will be packed with dancing a strut your stuff practice…leading up to the big sleep break! Tonight will surely be filled with guest bloggers, funny video clips and maybe a few surprises????
